The Royals is a Figure Skating Capsule Collection created in 2020 inspired by the popular Halsey song “Castle”. This song is about breaking norms and changing rules created by an old regime. I felt this way a lot in the figure skating community due to my unusual song choices and self choreographed programs. I would receive backlash from the community saying “this isn’t how it’s done”. “Castle” quickly became my skating anthem, program music, and inspired a capsule of figure skating ensembles inspired by classical royalty depicted in fairy tales to be used for competition. This capsule embodies breaking stereotypes and establishing a new reign in the figure skating community.
